Edit Summary

The short message you can add to an edit, like a git commit message.

Why bother

A wiki without edit summaries is a wiki where you can't tell why
something changed without reading the full diff. Future editors
(and your future self) appreciate even a one-line "Fixed typo" or
"Added BinkP TLS section".

What goes there

Keep it short — under 300 chars. Examples that earn their keep:

• Fixed typo in dosbox config example
• Added section on TLS for BinkP
• Reverted unhelpful change
• Restructured into 4 sections; no content changes
• Linked the [[DosBridge]] page from here

Special cases

• A revert auto-fills the summary as Reverted to revision N.
• A rename auto-fills Renamed from old-slug to new-slug.
• A new-page creation has an empty summary unless you fill one in.

• Recent changes list
• The page itself shows the latest edit summary in the meta
