Features

ANetBBS aims to be a complete modern BBS — classic in spirit, modern
in plumbing. Below is the full feature inventory.

Access

• Web Access (HTTP/HTTPS, real-time updates via WebSockets)
• Telnet (TCP 2233)
• SSH (TCP 2234, password and key auth)
• Rlogin (TCP 513, used by game-server style auto-login — off by
  default, sysop must enable it)
• PETSCII (TCP 6400/6401, Commodore 64/128 terminal support —
  off by default, sysop must enable it)
• Gemini — not a real Gemini-protocol (TLS+1965) listener; your
  gemtext capsule is exposed over plain HTTP at /gemini/<username>
• Finger (TCP 79, user info)

Messaging

• Message Boards — local discussion forums with categories,
  pinning, locking, reactions, polls, mentions, and attachments
• Echomail — FidoNet-style global discussion areas with full
  BinkP networking
• Netmail — point-to-point FidoNet mail
• Private Messages — one-to-one mail between local users
• Instant Messages — Inter-BBS real-time IM via the MSP
  protocol (TCP 18)

Files

• File Library with file areas, categorization,
  uploads, downloads, descriptions, ratings, and virus scanning
• FTP access (off by default, FTP_ENABLED) — browse/download file
  areas with any plain FTP client; anonymous read-only + authenticated
  uploads where permitted, see Files
• TIC Processor for FidoNet TIC echo distribution
• QWK mail packets for offline reading

Doors

• Game Center — 20 built-in browser games (puzzle, action,
  cards/casino, strategy, RPG) plus terminal doors, all in one lobby
• Doors — door game subsystem driving:
• Native Synchronet (over rlogin)
• DOS doors via DOSBox-staging + TCP nullmodem bridge
• Web doors (native HTML/JS games)
• ANetCRAFT — a bundled, pure-Python Minecraft-like survival door,
  active by default, no separate install needed. (Not the same thing
  as the standalone ANetCRAFT-Door C# project — same name, different
  codebase.)

Real-time

• Chat — multi-user chat with channels
• IRC Bridge — relays one local MRC room to one IRC
  server/channel (sysop sets this up in the database; no admin UI)
• IRC Client — each logged-in user can connect to their own IRC
  server, nick, and channels from the web
• MRC — the Multi-Relay Chat protocol used by many BBSes
• Telegram Bridge
• Sysop Page — bell the sysop, see who's around

Information

• RSS Reader — built-in feed aggregator (web + terminal)
• Bulletins — sysop-curated short notices
• Site Pages — pages the sysop hand-authors
• Personal Pages — user-edited homepages on the BBS
